The International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISFIT)
ISFiT is both a festival and a conference. With more than 450 participants from over 100 countries it is the largest event of its kind anywhere in the world. The thought behind ISFiT is that students, as future leaders, represent people with the possibility to influence. Knowledge gives opportunity to reach positions with influence, and with the right knowledge and values, students of today have the possibility to create healthy global development.
International Summer School, Oslo
The International Summer School (ISS) is an academic center for learning in an international context, and a forum for fostering intercultural understanding. Every summer from late June to early August it welcomes some 500 students from all over the world to its wide variety of graduate and undergraduate courses, mostly within the liberal arts and social sciences.
International Peace Research Institute, Oslo
Founded in 1959 it was one of the first centres of peace research in the world. Its founding and early influence were instrumental in projecting the idea of peace research. Research at PRIO concentrates on the driving forces behind violent conflict and on ways in which peace can be built, maintained and spread. In addition to theoretical and empirical research, PRIO also conducts policy-oriented activities and engages in the search for solutions in cases of actual or potential violent conflict. This combination of scholarship and practice has brought PRIO closer to meeting the normative ambitions of peace research: to apply high-quality academic standards to the study of peace and conflict, and to help diminish violent conflict in practice.
